Transition Northfield

Note: Please go to the new Transition Northfield web site for the latest information about our Transition Initiative.

Transition Northfield is an initiative to increase the resilience of our entire community. We are an official Transition Initiative, following the successful Transition Town model developed by Rob Hopkins in the UK and adopted by a growing number of towns and cities as a part of Transition United States.

Our Initiating Group, formed to guide the initial phases of our Transition, is meeting every two weeks and we have two active committees working on plans for Awareness Raising (networking and event planning) and Heart and Soul (preparing for the inner work of Transition).

If you would like to join us, or see what we’re up to, you can sign up for the Transition Northfield email mailing list; just fill out and submit the form on our mailing list page to subscribe to the list. Archives of the mailing list are available here.

Transition Northfield Vision (our goal):
We envision a vibrant, resilient, and socially equitable community committed to respect and care for each other and our natural world that is prepared to meet our basic needs by relocalizing our sources of food, energy, and health care in the face of oil depletion, climate change, and economic instability.

Transition Northfield Mission (how we will get there):
In the spirit of collaboration we will use Transition tools and our community’s diverse wisdom to create an energy descent plan and move us from our current non-renewable ways of meeting our basic needs to a sustainable, localized culture.
