Northfield Community Garden
July 15th, 2006 by Administrator
The Center for Sustainable Living was pleased to have as our guest at our last meeting, organizers of the newly forming Northfield Community Garden planning group. In the beginning stages, the group has a goal of securing land by the spring of 2007.
Community Gardens can benefit a community in many ways. They contribute to increased food security, add to the overall economic and social development, provide spaces for cross-cultural sharing and exchanges, improve the health of individuals and families, and provide a healthy and fun way to connect with nature and protect the environment.
You’ll be hearing more about the progress of the Northfield Community Garden here on our website in the future. If you would like to be involved in forming the vision and future for a community garden in Northfield, contact Sheryl Joy at 649-0707, or by email at northfieldcommunitygarden@hotmail.com.
The group will be taking a trip to Minneapolis on August 19 to tour other community garden sites and collect information. Those interested are invited to join!
