The Village School

Grassroots democracy, critical thinking, the right of all people to freedom, nonviolent conflict resolution, working for positive change in the world – all these ideals play an active role at the Village School of Northfield.  The school strives to bring these ideals alive in the young people who enter their care.  For those of us who wish to bring about world change, changing the way we educate children seems to be fundamental.

The Center for Sustainable Living and the People for Peace and Goodwill are calling upon the community for some help in this endeavor.  The Village School mission is largely misunderstood in the community and its enrollment has dropped.  There is not a critical mass of enrolled families who connect with the basic principles of the school.  It would be a shame if Northfield lost one of the 2 free democratic public schools in the country.

The Center for Sustainable Living’s Community Composting Project has continued to grow and thrive through the participation of students and faculty at the Village School. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, and are calling on the community to bring their energy to support to the continuance of this wonderful place.

What support can we get from you in the areas of public relations, marketing suggestions, recruitment?  On February 2nd at 7pm, The Center for Sustainable Living and PPG will be meeting at the Village School to learn more about the school and to brainstorm ways to increase its viability in the community.  Please join us!
